Against all odds, PTI wins Peshawar's Mathra Tehsil chairman election

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Inamullah secured victory by grabbing 20,333 votes.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won the by-election held on Sunday for the vacant seat of chairman in Peshawar's Mathra tehsil, Dunya News reported.
According to unofficial results announced on late Sunday night, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s candidate Inamullah secured victory by grabbing 20,333 votes. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate Rafi Ullah remained second by getting 13,564 votes and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Iftikhar Ahmed came third with 9,546 votes.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Tehsil Mathra chairman Faridullah of JUI-F.
Six candidates were in the run for the slot of the chairmanship of Mathra tehsil including Rafiullah from the JUI, Inamullah from the PTI, Iftikhar Ahmed from the JI, Aziz Ghaffar Khan from the ANP, Ali Abbas Khan from the PPP and Fazlullah from the PML-N.
The total number of voters in the constituency was 218,630 out of which 120, 738 were male voters and 97, 892 women voters.
A total of 155 polling stations were set up in Mathra tehsil, 496 presiding officers were assigned duties for the election, and district returning and returning officers were given the powers of magistrates.
Independent candidate wins Abbottabad's Havelian Tehsil chairman election
According to unofficial result announced on Sunday night, an independent candidate, Uzair Sher Khan, won the Abbottabad's Havelian Tehsil chairman election by getting 21,464 votes.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s candidate Iftikhar Jadon remained second by securing 18,527 votes and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Malik Talha got third position after bagging 14,892 votes.
Abbottabad's Havelian tehsil consists of nine union councils and 34 village councils. A total number of voters is 165,800 with 88,364 male voters and 77,436 female voters.
As many 134 polling stations were established and 34 of them were declared sensitive. As many 2,071 cops were been deployed for polling duty. The seat fell vacant after Atif Munsif was murdered.
